Magic March
March and October are my favorite months for holiday and celebrations and we’re kicking Magic March off today!
You probably know by now my family hails from Ireland. Ireland is known for its green grass, lucky clovers, horseshoes and Saint Patrick. There are a lot of hidden gems about the people and country you might not know.
Celtic tattoos have been used since ancient times and were used to ward off evil spirits and protect them in battle. Tattoos were used on both men and women and were completely gender neutral.
Celtic knotwork tattoos were believed to be magical and have supernatural power. My first tattoo was a knotwork Shamrock. It’s the national flower of Ireland, and was loved by the Druids for its heart shaped leaves. ☘️ the Shamrock (not to be confused with a 4 leaf clover 🍀 ) is also known as the holy trinity and respected by the Celts as they believed everything that is important in the universe comes in threes.
The shamrock also became a symbol of rebellion against the British crown in the 19th century and anyone caught wearing it was executed. I consider it a great privilege to have this tattoo and be able to talk about it.
